Red Box 1.35 Notice 4

April 1997

Red Box on HP-UX - ucrbbatch core dump at closedown

Introduction

When running under HP-UX, an error in the Red Box utility ucrbbatch intermittently causes a Bus Error (Core dump) at ucrbbatch closedown. The core dump is reported after the 'Completed OK' message has been output, and does not affect success of the ucrbbatch run.

Correction

This notice announces a upgrade for Red Box 1.35/6 under HP-UX to correct the fault. The upgrade is a replacement Red Box 1.35/6 file ucrbbatch, version 1.35/6(a); the version number is reported in the ucrbbatch copyright statement at startup. Note that the upgrade may only be applied to a Red Box 1.35/6 system running under HP-UX.

To apply the upgrade:

1 download the replacement ucrbbatch compressed as file rbbtch6a.Z. Downloading is described in the section "Availability" below.

2 if the file rbbtch6a.Z has been downloaded to a PC, transfer it in binary mode to a directory on the HP-UX machine. This directory is referred to as TransferDirectory in the next step.

3 log in to user rboxsw on the HP-UX machine, and issue the commands:

cd $RBOX_HOME/ucbin
cp /TransferDirectory/rbbtch6a.Z .
uncompress rbbtch6a
mv ucrbbatch ucrbbatch.6
mv rbbtch6a ucrbbatch

This completes the upgrade; no changes to Red Box licensing are required.

Reversion

If required, you may revert to the previous version of ucrbbatch :

1 log in to user rboxsw on the Unix machine.

2 issue the commands:

cd $RBOX_HOME/ucbin
mv ucrbbatch.6 ucrbbatch
