Windows Sockets is a de facto industry standard which is becoming increasingly popular. Red Box is believed to run correctly with the following TCP/IP software: Beame & Whiteside TCP/IP version 3.0c or later. Frontier Technologies SuperTCP for Windows version 3.0 or later. Novell LAN WorkPlace for DOS version 4.1 PLUS patch LWP168. (Some users report that v4.2 is required) NetManage Chameleon TCP/IP version 4.00 or later. Trumpet Winsock version 1.0 revision A, version 2.0 revision B or later. (Trumpet version 2.1 revision F is recommended) Microsoft TCP/IP-32 for Windows for Workgroups version 3.11. NOTE: this is not MS-TCP/IP for Windows for Workgroups v1.0. FTP PC/TCP version 2.2 or later. (However, users have reported memory-shortage problems running under Windows for Workgroups 3.11) Sun/ICL PC-NFS version 5.1a plus the pre-release WINSOCK.DLL to allow use of blocking hooks.
