Ultracomp wins three contracts in local government sector

July 11, 1997

Ultracomp, the UK's leading supplier of service management software, has won three orders within local government to supply its service management product, Red Box. Fife Council, East Staffordshire Borough Council and Mole Valley District Council have each chosen Red Box to improve the overall effectiveness and reliability of their IT service.

Fife Council

Fife Council's IT strategy is to use best of breed solutions to improve the quality of service to its end users. Red Box's Operations Control not only provides a mechanism for integrating all of the organisation's service management tools, but also enables monitoring of all elements of the Council's network and measures the level of service that users are experiencing.

Alastair Robertson, customer services manager, Fife Council, commented: "In April 1996, when we became a Unitary Authority, our systems underwent a reorganisation and rationalisation programme which included the expansion of the network. Ultracomp's Red Box solution has provided us with a sound methodology to manage our services and effectively deal with a range of new technologies."

East Staffordshire Borough Council

East Staffordshire Borough Council has implemented Red Box's Configuration Management module to play a critical role in the Council's strategy for dealing with the millennium date change. It has also ordered the Help Desk module to upgrade its existing helpdesk operation, which currently deals with more than 300 calls per month. Phil Ashmore, computer systems manager, East Staffordshire Borough Council, remarked: "Our success as a Local Government department is judged by the service that we provide to our users. Red Box gives us an integrated service management package, compatible to our needs, that enables us to pull best of breed products into one cohesive management tool."

Mole Valley District Council

Mole Valley District Council in Dorking is expanding its current use of Red Box by adding Change Management and Operations Control to the recently installed Help Desk module. The additions have been made as a result of the Council's service delivery strategy, which was devised to enable it to achieve specific objectives to ensure it improves its quality of service to its 200 users.

Bob Thomas, assistant treasurer, information systems, Mole Valley District Council commented: "Having added Operations Control and Change Management to the Help Desk, Red Box has provided us with a total service management solution for the IT department."
