Time for a change?

·Make a date with Ultracomp, IBM, Britannia Airways and the Pacific Institute

September 19, 1996 -Ultracomp Limited, leading supplier of integrated service management solutions, and Service Management magazine will be presenting a one-day seminar on Change Management at the Institution of Civil Engineers, London on November 12, 1996.

The seminar is designed to help senior executives cope with the issues of industrial, economic and IT change and help companies establish a service management culture. Delegates will benefit from advice on how to decide whether to retain

in-house IT services or adopt an outsourcing strategy, advice on how to empower staff in the change process, guidance on how to manage process re-engineering and how technology can aid the change process.

Delegates will learn from speakers who have had first hand experiences at change management. Speakers include Britannia Airways and IBM National Call Centre. (For further details please see 'Note to editors').

The event is targeting senior managers involved in planning and implementing change, such as, chief executives, finance directors, IT directors and managers and personnel directors.

A charge of £245 plus VAT is payable for attendance and includes lunch and refreshments.

This session will include techniques used by Prudential Financial Services to create the change environment and look the imapcts on the company.

· Support structure

Speaker: Steve Ingall - IT service manager, The Employment Service

The Employment Service has undertaken a major project in this area during the last two years and Steve will explain the impact and implications of managing outsourced services in this session.

· Support in-house

Speaker: Vic Koper - IT Services manager - Britannia Airways

The problem raised in this session is how your in-house support addresses the potential challenge of outsourcing. Vic will talk about the approach taken by Britannia and the impact this has had on how IT service is delivered and supported.

Speaker: David Chazel, The Pacific Institute

The Pacific Institute has helped organisations all around the world prepare their staff to adopt an open minded approach to change, not only in their professional working environment but also socially. This talk will focus on how to take your staff into changing environments and thrive within the new organisation.

Speaker: Bill Cullen - manager, IBM National Call Centre

Bill will talk about how IBM changed processes in their National Call Centre and explain why it was considered necessary to change and look at the lessons learned from a major organisations perspective. The session will discuss BPR - is it the latest fad or is there a real benefit to be gained by investing time and effort?

This talk looks at ways to utilise software to control the process of change within your organisation. The focus will be on opportunities available to do this and how business benefits can be derived from applying software to control your environment.
